Securing persons in accordance with EN 795:2012
The well-designed systems of the SCHILLING aluminium gantry cranes can also be used for alternative applications. In addition to the traditional lifting of loads, the securing of persons is now also certified and therefore permitted.
The SCHILLING aluminium gantry crane, in conjunction with the trolley, has been type-approved as a fall arrest system. The person to be secured can attach themselves directly to the trolley using ‘personal protective equipment’ of their choice. Any rescuer can then also secure themselves to the same trolley. A maximum of one user per trolley may secure themselves against falls using their own ‘personal protective equipment’. The trolley itself is secured by pulling the red webbing strap.
In general, our aluminium gantry crane systems are characterised by their high flexibility and ease of use. The height- and length-adjustable, freestanding structure can be effortlessly assembled and dismantled in just a few simple steps. No structural alterations (e.g. dowel fixings or similar) are required.

Protection of persons against falls from a height
- Depending on the load-bearing capacity of the gantry crane, up to 5 trolleys can be used, allowing up to 5 people to be secured at the same time.
- No load may be lifted simultaneously on the trolley used for securing personnel.
- If one trolley is used to lift a load, another trolley may be used simultaneously for personal safety. In this case, the crane’s rated load is reduced by 600 kg.
- If several trolleys are used for personal safety, the rated load is reduced by a further 100 kg for each additional person to be secured.
